Student/dodge ball player to friend: Dude, those deals were AMAZING! I got a free donut!
You have to love it when people appreciate the little things in life. I really like donuts too. Here's a pic of the finest I've ever tasted - here at an apple field in Michigan, fresh out of the oven. I was not so fond of the warm apple cider we bought to wash the donuts down.

Overheard/Validation: Wisconsin Avenue, Georgetown, October 29 2011
From wandering around the city, it seemed to me that motorists in Washington D.C. were quite aggressive toward pedestrians, zooming around corners in front of the peds who were crossing at the lights when the green man was flashing. I was ready to dismiss this as the mere impression of an uninitiated Australian, until I overhead this conversation.
Girl 1: Wait, you don't jay-walk?
Girl 2: Not in D.C....people are crazy!
Not long after this, I witnessed a hit & run accident.

Overheard: on a bus somewhere in Pennsylvania, November 23 2011
VERY large-bottomed woman getting off the bus, to all other bus passengers: "Guess what? I am literally gonna hit every one of you with my ass."
Brooklyn
After that last post, which I stress was purely a re-production of a conversation that I overheard, I thought I should share a more flattering record of our afternoon in Brooklyn. Granted, this pic is looking back toward Manhattan, but it's a cool view nonetheless.
Overheard, a cafe in Brooklyn, October 15 2011
First British guy: Can you believe the property prices here?
Second British guy: Yeah well, that's cos it's like, trendy.
First Brit (incredulous): I don't know why!
Second Brit: What d'you mean?
First Brit: Because the people are...you know...pigs.

"You know I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger? He was just shoppin...He'd just bought a pair of Nikes. There was this secret service dude and Arnold was just walking around here carrying a box of Nikes. He's actually a tall guy, I mean he's taller than me. And his head is BIG, man. It's just like this huge block sitting on top of his body. And he was jay-walking across the street - he was jay-walking! And I was like Arnold...you're jay-walking Arnold! Hey Arnold!"
